About these terms

These terms apply when you use authorluxe.com or order a Pre-Print Book Check. "We" and "us" mean AuthorLuxe Studio, a trade name of Obelra, based in New Jersey. "You" means the person ordering or using the site. By ordering, you agree to these terms.

Our services

• Pre-Print Book Checks: the Proof Check, the re-check of a corrected proof, the Copyedit Audit and its later passes, and the Sample Audit, as described on our Pre-Print Checks page.
• Website design: each website project is covered by its own written agreement. If that agreement differs from these terms, the agreement applies.

Ordering and payment

• You order through the form on our website. We reply within 24 hours to confirm the details and send a Stripe invoice and a secure link for your files.
• Prices are in US dollars and are the prices shown when you order. Nothing is charged until you pay the invoice.
• Invoices are due within 7 days. If an invoice isn't paid by then, we may cancel the order.

Turnaround

• We start once we have both your payment and your files. Turnaround is counted in business days (Monday to Friday, excluding US federal holidays) from that point: 3 business days for a Proof Check and 5 for a Copyedit Audit.
• If we expect to miss a turnaround time, we'll tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund.

Founding-author pricing

• Our first ten authors pay our introductory prices. In return, you agree to write an honest review of the service, whatever you think of it.
• We will never ask you to make a review more positive or to change it. If we share your review, we'll say that you received introductory pricing, and we'll ask you first.

Sample Audit credit

The price of a Sample Audit is credited toward a full Copyedit Audit of the same book if you order it within 60 days of receiving your Sample Audit report.

Cancellations and refunds

• If you cancel before we start your check, we refund you in full.
• Once we've started your check, the fee isn't refundable.
• If your report contains a mistake of ours, such as a finding that isn't actually in your file, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we'll correct it and send a revised report at no charge.

Your files and your rights

• You keep all rights to your manuscript, your proof and everything in them. You give us permission to use your files only to run your check and write your report.
• You confirm that you have the right to share the files you send us.
• How we handle and delete your files is described in our Privacy Policy.

What our checks do and don't do

• Our checks are independent reviews. The Proof Check compares your proof with your approved manuscript; the Copyedit Audit reviews the quality of a copyedit. Each report says what it covers and what it doesn't.
• A check isn't a proofread or a copyedit, and it isn't a guarantee that your book is free of errors. Some findings are judgment calls, and the report says so.
• You decide what to change in your book, and you're responsible for approving your final files with your printer or publisher.

How we use AI

Our checks run on software we built that uses third-party AI services. A person reviews every report before it's delivered.

Your report

Your report is yours to use for your book. Share it with your editor, typesetter or publishing team as you like. Our methods, software and report design remain ours.

Limits of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a check is limited to the amount you paid for that check. We aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as printing or reprinting costs, lost sales or missed release dates.

Using this website

The text, design and images on this website belong to AuthorLuxe Studio unless we say otherwise. Please don't copy them without permission, misuse our forms or try to disrupt the site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in effect when you place an order applies to that order.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any dispute will be handled by the courts located in New Jersey.
